Innovation through Collaboration

I'm not a health major but what can young people do to get more involved in a substantive/meaningful way?

Contact one of the NGOs around you and offer to volunteer or intern
You may be able to link up with a missions team going overseas, as well. It's a good way to see what's happening overseas, and you could offer to help the group do health promotion. I have a simple curriculum, for example (attached), that can be used with church groups to teach them how to promote good breastfeeding practices in villages. Our church used it in Uganda and it was very successful, and gave the mission team members a great chance to interact with local women and better understand their lives. And this is often a lot more helpful than some of the things they do, like one day medical clinics. Tom
